SAINT VITUS

With its architecture, the St. Vitus church stands out as the most beautiful object in the Klis Fortress. It has been almost entirely preserved, and this Turkish mosque is one of the rare examples of the Islamic architecture in Dalmatia. It was constructed after the fall of the fortress in 1537, and the mosque became a Christian church dedicated to St. Vitus after the liberation in 1648 as a memory to Reconquista and the return of Klis in the Christian hands it was converted into the church of St. Vitus.
