Situated on the northern side from the main road, a bit eastward from the centre of Varoš stands a church dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is celebrated on August 15. During many years, the church changed its shape, appearance and even its purpose. In many coastal places which, just like Klis, were built on the grounds of ancient Roman settlements, the sacral objects were often erected on the grounds of old Christian churches or antique temples. It is not known whether the location of the town’s church is related to any of the earlier sacral objects.
